Project Outcomes

  • Ensure that all activities and outcomes use an integrated data ethics framework and comply with all applicable international, EU and national laws. 
  • Improve networking between law enforcement and the private sector.  
  • Provide authorities with a more accurate picture of both reported and unreported cybercrime in the EU. 
  • Showcase current gaps in cybercrime reporting in the EU and outline factors contributing to these gaps 
  • Clarify who cyberattack victims should report to and assess the health of current reporting relationships.  
  • Support European LEAs in investigating forms of cybercrime by researching and developing a tool to analyse potentially malicious emails and identify relevant malware 
  • Focus on top priority threats presented in EUROPOL’S Internet Organised Crime Threat Assessment and enhance the capacity of law enforcement and cybercrime responders. 
  • Help authorities better detect and handle encryption, creating methods and toolboxes to consolidate extraction and recovery. 
  • Promote co-operation and collaboration, utilising the European Cybercrime Centre to identify industry shortcomings. 
  • Improve cross-border collaboration by creating a cluster of EU funded cybercrime and cybersecurity projects, building upon existing relationships. 
  • Explore the strengths and limitations of cutting-edge technologies and best practices for cross-border collaboration.
  • Improve collaboration between law enforcement and cybersecurity vendors by designing and implementing interfaces for cybersecurity software. 
  • Enhance co-operation between stakeholders to promote industry best practices for investigation, data sharing, and cross-border collaboration. 
  • Harness a network of partners and stakeholders to consider policy options for bettering EU response to cyberattacks.  
  • Use the Russian SolarWinds hack as a case study to further explore policy options for EU businesses, policymakers, and the private sector.
  • Raise awareness about the project and its results 
  • Encourage dialogue between the public and stakeholders around policy, detection and prevention of cybercrime. 
  • Ensure regular communication and collaboration with a variety of industry representatives. 
  • Develop policy briefs for national and EU policymakers, LEAs and industry leaders
